Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I’ve been super busy and there really hasn’t been anything new. Still doing vocals, still working on some mixes. We’re about 6 songs deep into vocals now, and I think I’ve finally shaped up a mix that I like for one song. I’ve started working on mixing a second as of today. This has been a pretty brutal routine for me, as both mixing and tracking vocals take a lot of concentration, and doing both, day in and day out, has left me with a raisin for a brain. That was a lot of commas. Too many? I don’t know. Raisins can’t think.

I think mixing means how everything sounds comparatively volume-wise, right? Don’t bother to answer that because I don’t deserve an answer to something that’s more than likely to be on wikipedia.
ooh, and the cold war kids thing was pretty cool. With your heaviness (compared to CWK) you could take that format and really cross a big spectrum.
last but not the least I really miss California raisins. Portuguese raisins suck.
Hey Teps (and others) I assume you read this every now and then… I just want to say I hope you guys don’t get burnt out or something… It seems like you are doing a whole lot in a short amount of time… I am not much of an artist myself, and have very little recording experiance… But I think sometimes creativity can be lost when its combined with stress… And really if you think about it, the mixing is a whole different instrument that needs time to find its place in order to be beautiful… anywho.. I have no doubts as to your, and the rest of the guys’ ability to make amazing music… Just saying… You might want to chill out… Dont break your brain!

So whenever you guys talk about “mixing” things like mixing a record or mixing a song, what exactly does that consist of ? It sounds like it takes a while to mix even one song. I don’t know just curious…

Sorry if I got you excited over something you already knew about.
I was just thinking about the part on the video where I think Teppei says something about how they have been working on this new record for awhile. Is it just me or does it feel like they just started writing? I love how Thrice just pumps out new records on a seemingly yearly basis. Quality records at that. I’m so glad they aren’t like Tool that releases an album once every five years.
Cannot wait for the new album guys, keep up the good work!

Teppei, you’re the best music making raisin machine.
Erik, mixing can be a very short process, or a very long process, all depending on the sound quality desired. Mixing is when you go into a track and change its EQ’s and its balances and fades and volume of different instruments and vocals and you can add effects to voice etc etc… It is pretty much everything that is done after recording other than punch ins… Mastering is mixing that is the finished product.
Yeah Craig, I know they are good.. But no one is perfect and everyone gets stressed out… To think that Thrice can make a perfect record is not absured.. But… No one short of Jesus is perfect.. Even masters like Teppei have off days k? I was just simply trying to say hey… We will wait for your music no matter how long it takes.. Don’t stress yourself out over us mmm k? Sometimes you can’t force creativity sometimes it comes from rest.
I think Chase and Erik should have a battle to determine who knows the least about music. Either way, you both vividly represent the demographic that is the previous VS current Thrice fan-base. Whether that’s a compliment or an insult I’ll let you decide

Dude, it was epic. I’m at basic training right now @ Ft. Sill in OK, and we shipped out just the other day. Thing is, I ran into another cat like me sportin’ a thrice t-shirt and he was shipping to the same basic training center – damn near same platoon and everything. Well, it’s a small world and it’s our job to defend a small part of it, but what ya’ll stand for reminds us that there’s still good in this world and I’m not alone in the hope that one day we won’t be necessary. Anyways, keep up the awesome work and I can’t wait to check your newest album when it hits stores. Peace ‘n love.
