So how about an uplifting post? As most of you know, we just played the wrap up show for Brand New’s tour at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island. It was a somewhat hectic show for us, but despite that it was an amazing night seeing/meeting a bunch of old/new friends. I ended up walking out onto the floor and catching part of Brand New’s set, and as a friend and someone that’s shared a history with the band, I couldn’t help but feel proud of them. We did our first ever headlining “tour” with them and Recover (plus a very young Coheed for a few shows) back in probably 2001 or so, doing a couple weeks on the east coast playing to anywhere from maybe 50-200 people a night. I think Vin was still in High School. So needless to say, they’re old and close friends of ours, and thinking about how far they’ve come and watching them play in a arena full of people was a rewarding experience. Them and their crew are some of the most solid people I know and I couldn’t be happier for them. Oh yeah, and they are a killer band. Since unfortunately, most of the time great band + great people = no one knows/care about the band, here’s a big cheers to a great band + great people who are actually finding success.

listening:
Beach House – Devotion
Emliana Torinni – Fisherman’s Woman
Neil Young – Comes A Time

Lots of people here don’t understand How much it cost to tour… @ ben yeah the plane tickets are expansive but just traveling a day with a tour bus cost almost as much as a plane ticket… plus the crew+the food+all the little things that you can’t plan = no money in the end… they have kids and all, people who count on them to live, you don’t wanna be broke when a second kid is coming…

Brand New confirm Thrice as support at Wembley Arena.

thrice at wembley!!!! best news ever!
this will by far be the best gig ever! my 3 favorite bands
Triple win!
Honestly, I would be okay with Thrice not re-recording A Song for Milly Michaelson.
I like the album version better, personally.
I don’t get all the hype for the live version. It’s good, but it’s not THAT amazing.
Different strokes I suppose.

Samesies. I like when albums sound different than the live version; that’s why bootlegs are so fun.
Also, I never thought I’d say this, but I’m jealous of y’all in the UK
. . . Oughtta be a good time
Yeah sure it costs a lot going on tour.
But playing live and sell merch is the way how bands earns the big money. they dont get that much from selling cd´s, just a small amount from every sold album. The most part goes to the recordcompany.
i can understand it´s a big thing when they hav kids coming and it´s a difficult and big job itself.
But just look at Korn, Jonathan Davis (and the other members) have 3 kids and they are going around the world each freakin year and visit every country and doing everything for the fans.
And yeah of course, it´s a big difference between the bands in many ways.
But what the hell, i can wait a couple of years more. It´s worth it… i hope
