Day 2 UK – Leeds

January 19th, 2010

We arrived in Leeds with the working bus :D
I had the chance to walk around the town a bit and grab some much needed coffee to fight off the jet lag.
I’m not sure that we were all prepared for how cold it would be indoors and out. There’s something about the cold here that has been hitting us hard even though the temperature is not yet below freezing. It might be that we are from California and there isn’t much of a break from the cold. I could probably use some gloves and scarf.
We met the other bands we are touring with, Telegraphs and We Are The Ocean… really nice folks and they put on a great show.
Our set was pretty decent for a first set on rental gear in another country although, my bass was squealing at me whenever the volume was up and a note was not being played. I’m going to have to inspectigate this tomorrow.
To Glasgow

If you think this week is cold then you should’ve been here a fortnight ago, we were covered in a blanket of snow and ice and generally freezing our buttocks off the entire time :P

    Hurry up Friday :)

  2. Sharif says:

you think this is cold? haha in the last few weeks the temperature hasnt been above freezing. It was about minus 18 in Glasgow at one point. It wasnt pleasant. Good luck going up there haha. Fortunately im back at uni now so im in manchester which isnt much better to be honest. Im seeing you’s on Wednesday!! Cant wait.

  3. Ashley says:

There should be like a charity or something so we can send you guys coats or scarves or whatever we can spare. I would gladdy send yall some gloves :)

  4. Chris says:

You missed all the snow we had over the last couple of weeks. It’s been below freezing in Leeds for ages! Great to see you guys last night. Gutted for Teppei. Leeds sends him love!

  5. Stef says:

Lastnights show was amazing!! Very sore throat today from singing my heart out at the front. Nate did a fantastic job covering for teppei!! Think u shud bring his band with you when you tour in the summer :) back home to Newcastle now!! Xxx

  6. Dave says:

Thursday can’t come soon enough. Not that the night won’t be stupidly awesome anyway, but in honour of Nate, a TREOS/TDH cover would totally cap it :D

  7. Kyle says:

    “Inspectigate” . . . I like that.

  8. reeno says:

Humidity is the something about the cold that chills you to your bones. When it gets below zero, humidity falls and the cold is a bit more bearable…

  9. Mr Mike says:

Ed, I totally sympathise here… my bass, a haggered old thing that has somehow survived from being a second hand to being in my rough use for 4 odd years, makes a static buzz when the volumes up and I’m not touching strings. Annoying, as it also gives me shock when i touch my mouth to a microphone!
Aside, I SOOO can’t wait to see you guys Thursday. I dunno if you guys read these silly replies, but PAPER TIGERS for Mike and Chey please? & come out after, we’ll have you all drinks in minutes!
Much love & Excitement with a capital,
    Mike

  10. ge-off says:

Gah, I thought you meant I Am The Ocean…little band from Utah. Was way confused…I almost called them up, “WHAT THE HELL, GUYS…THRICE? REALLY?” I’m sure they would have been more confused than I at that point.

    Have fun over there!

  11. Bryan H. says:

Somewhere in the near future it would be awesome for you guys to collaborate with Nate and the rest of the scattered TREOS guys on something. Two of my favorite bands tossing around ideas to each other… ‘twould be sweet.

  12. Matt says:

Just about to leave for the Garage. Try the auld Tennants and Mr Chips for a Mars Bar in Batter! Awesome

  13. Luke A says:

sooo you guys are in england butttt when are you going to do a full U.S tour? i was pumped when you made the new album because i thought i would soon be able to see you guys live. I live in Massachussets and you guys havent been anywhere near here in a while so whats the dealio? PLEASE come to Boston! new house of blues right near fenway great venue

  22. kyle says:

    @mrmike

make sure all of your grounds are plugged in and functioning. if your using your amp and/or microphone through 2-prong wall sockets as opposed to 3-prong ones, you’ll get “mic-bite” (small electric shocks) and if something in your amp screws up the entire current runs through your body and… crispy things happen. getgrounded!

  23. kyle says:

and as an addon it just occured to me that you (@mrmike) might be in the UK, and not the US, meaning the 2-prong///3-prong thing isn’t correct (you guys have different wall sockets), but the basics are the same, make sure all your equipment is properly grounded.

  24. Jason says:

Shreddie needs to post more posts. They rule and they sound very Shredapotomusly. that is all.

  25. Andrew says:

HEY THRICE! Theres an awesome music festival held in Bakersfield California that you should totaly hop on called “Rockin Roots”! Warped Tour dosnt roll through Bakersfield so they hold thier own festival so they have something to look forward to in the summer. My band has played it and i think it would be perfect for you guys to jump on. I totaly recomend thinking about it. Bands like: A Skylit Drive, Taking Back Sunday, Anberlin, and Shiny Toy Guns played it last year. Its planned to be held on June 5th this year.

If you want more info and/or would like to hop on, Contact Tim Gardea (The man who puts it all together) at:

  26. Matt says:

Guys. What a show! Big shout out for Nate for doing a stellar job filling for Teppei! Loved Helter Skelter and the Milly adaption. New stuff is epic. Cant wait till you return. Please play some more Alchemy next time though. Still an amazing show!!!

  27. John says:

The Leeds show sounds amazing guys, the setlsit flawless, but please please please if you intend on putting daedalus in your setlist this week then please make it thursday when i see you guys, would make my night so much!

All the best guys, see you on thursday!

Shame your not here Teppei, your greatly missed and my thoughts are with you and your family

  28. Kev says:

Was just at the gig tonight in Glasgow, first time seeing you guys live. Absolutely amazed! You guys tore it up. Your performance was sublime, Ed ruled on bass, Riley whaled on the skins, Dustin ripped the vocals and geetar! Teppei was missed, but his Deer Hunter replacement was outstanding, still felt tight, but would like to send Teppei much love and prayers to him and his family. But you guys really made my year, the gig was immense and I hope you are back soon.

    Kev.

  29. Grant says:

Awesome show tonight, already can’t wait til you return…bring Red Sky with you ;)

  30. Nick says:

Setlist for Glasgow show or was it identical to Leeds?

  31. Kip says:

Let us know how you fix that bass squealing because my guitar was doing the same thing awhile ago, I’d like to know the solution… even if it’s different for bass, hehe.

  32. Freddy says:

oh and btw, you’re live version of milly…unreal. I wish soo bad that i could see it in person. you guys are my favorite band period. what you are doing influences so many people in so many ways. I turned my bandmates and so many friends on to your music, and stylistically, we’re evolving as well, and i think we could attribute a big part of what we’re doing to thrice. I’ve just never seen anybody do it like you guys. Very inspirational. a bit sappy i know, but your sound is spectacular. cheers :)

  33. Chris says:

    @Grant

I hope they do Red Sky or Image of the Invisible for you. Unfortunately we didn’t get these but loads of other grat songs!

  34. Tom says:

Yeh someone post a setlist from Glasgow please to see if the same as leeds, interesting to know if we’ll be getting different selection at Wembley than we had Monday..

Also – Teppei, you’re still in our thoughts bro

  35. daniel dickens says:

i thought you guys were great in glasgow last night. i liked how you adapted milly from the alchemey index, it got me thinking after that i would love you to update and play some of the old stuff in your back catalogue. i would love to hear ultra blue, identity crisis and phoenix ignition given similar treatment! anyway you were great and i hope teppei is able to come next time.
    much love

  36. Rob says:
