Day 3 Glasgow

January 20th, 2010

AAAACK!!! BURNING FUMES BUMPS AND THE SENSATION OF FALLING!
Yep! That’s how we woke. No big deal though, just the smell of an angry clutch and the parking of a bus on one of the many bumpy steep hills in Glasgow. It was actually the start of an amazing day for us.
The venue “The Garage” was awesome in every way… From the people working there, to the people that came out for the show, it was a great night for all of us.
I think we are all getting used to the cold… or maybe it’s just that it wasn’t freezing inside the venue (Okay okay enough about the cold, I know we are a bunch of wusses.). Really though, this show was great, thanks to those who drove out from all parts of Scotland… and even those who flew from Italy :D
It was good to see old friends and faces, and hang afterwards. I can’t wait to come back with Teppei again soon. Speaking of which, Nate is doing an amazing job, and has been an amazing friend to have out on tour. I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with someone like him (who grew up on the opposite side of the US), and be connected by means of music. It’s been great sharing conversation, music, art, and laughs with him. BFFs!

Thanks again for again for everything Scotland!

Here is a picture of a picture taken by a girl named Stephanie… I didn't get to meet her, but thank you so much for the gift!

I can’t wait until Thursday in Cardiff! Its going to be amazing! Can someone post the Glasgow setlist as I want to see if they are sticking with the same setlist they played in Leeds all tour or mixing it up a bit. Obviously all Thrice songs are awesome but I really hope they play Melting Point Of Wax!

  13. fmfaithful says:

Its been almost 24 hours since the show started in Glasgow and i’m still buzzing. I listened to the live at the house of blues record on the way home and was laughing out loud (LOL) at the thought of me hearing the very same band only hours ago.

I can’t tell you how amazing it was to finally see you guys with my own two eyes. Bring on the next, tour which i am assuming will be around Reading/Leeds festival time. Enjoy the rest of the tour.

We are beggars: This is true

just arrived home in germany from my short leeds trip. absolutely stunning show! our hotel was 50 meters away from the cockpit. sad that the guys had to leave right after the show but nevertheless it was totally worth the money and the effort.

“are you guys all from leeds?”
    “NO, GERMANY!!!!!”

dustin’s smile after that was amazing (and the confused faces around me :D )

  17. Lukas says:

Trumtram: Damn! I want to go as well man :/ Fuck school and all that shit…

  21. Alexander says:

Hello from NY I feel like this is a longshot that this will get answered. but i have a question for Dustin (aka DK)

In the chance you still use your line 6 m13 for live gigs…how does it sound. And specifically can you *feel* the guitar primarily when it’s distorted (or with some other volume/time based effect)? I’m looking to get that or the m9, primarily cause trying to sing and play guitar doesn’t go well with me trying to tap dance allover the pedal-board. So i figure having the stomps organized would make it MUCH more convenient.

I hope your enjoying your tour across seas and I certainly hope you will hit up NYC sometime soon. Cheers =)

    Alex
PS if anyone else has an opinion for it im all ears.

  22. Kyle says:

Alex – this video has a few shots of what looks to be the m13. I’m not a big pedal junkie so I’m not 100% on that.

  23. Jay says:

love the daily updates. thanks guys.

  24. Alexander says:

Kyle thank you for that. Lol i’ve actually seen these videos but yea totally missed that he was using one there. In addition there is also the factor that he uses the internal parts of the line 6 variax…which is a really interesting considering its a modeling guitar with a modeling stomp boxes and it still sounds relatively close the recording and very legit/non-digitalized. In the end, 99.9 percent of the people won’t even notice the difference anyway.

Basically i’m really starting to lean into getting this for sure hah. I’m still curious about the *feel* of it. Hopefully i didn’t sound like an idiot cause i’m not too much of a guitar/gear geek myself =P

  25. Tyler Herod says:

Should I cover Eclipse on guitar? There aren’t really any videos for it on youtube..I guess no one’s heard of it. I’m thinking about trying a shot at it this friday, so..anyone interested? :)

  26. Henry Legay says:

You know, all these places sound great and all, but hey; we all know that the place Thrice should REALLY be playing at next is Hawaii. Pleaaaase!?!?

  27. Barry says:

hey Dustin, i flew over from northern ireland to finally see you guys and i was blown away. it was me and my friend who met you on your way out back and got talking to you about tattoos and bruce springsteen, he made you sign atlantic city! All that and about you wanting to visit Belfast. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us and for playing the UK….even though you guy LOSE money playing here. It was one of the most memorable nights of my life and I would like to thank you for that. The offer of free tattoos for life will always stand. you can check out my work on facebook, my tag is Tatu Barry….I realise you probably won’t bother but I would love the oppotunity someday man. I really would. Thank you. Barry

  28. Kyle says:

I’m really liking these frequent posts. I wonder: Will we see any guest posts from the honorary thrice member Nate?

And Alex – do you live near any Guitar Center stores? In my experience they’ve always been great at letting me try things in the story before I buy it

  29. Kyle says:

And by “story” I of course mean “store”

  30. Alex says:

i’m of the guys from italy, i want to thank you for the incredible show at the garage, and also the talk with Dustin about avatar 3d and other james cameron’s billion dollar films was good!
