Much of the day in Cardiff was spent napping…
Everyone was pooped from the night before. For some odd reason no one could fall asleep so much of the night was spent riding along in the bus telling stories, nerding on computers, and listening to music. So as soon as we were soundchecked and settled in we all found room on couches and chairs backstage to nod off for a bit.
Thankfully backstage also had an amazingly beautiful device to entertain all the bands and crew for some after show shenanigans!
PUNCH THE SNAKE!

The actual name of the game we didn’t care much to figure out… we just knew that we were punching a giant snake that that was cool enough for us to yell it between floggings. Needless to say, it was a great time teaching the snake a lesson or two, pushing for the high score… which sadly we could not top.
I thought I’d take it a step further towards the end of the night with a jumping sort of spinning kick (I’ve been known to kick a low ceiling or to at points on tours past.).
…
Okay, lesson of the day… When doing fantastical jumping spinning kickery, do watch for nearby furniture (ie. that couch). Well… I did hit the snake pretty damn hard… but, also almost broke a couch with my shin! :/

Anyway… Thanks Cardiff for the fun show!
love,
Ed

I’d like to take a few swings at that snake.
so now you have a cut up hand and a bloody stump of a leg. I’d sure like to see you jumping around on stage. YOU guys need to film some of that!
Haha! Looks like fun.

Do you have any formal kick-boxing training or is kicking things just a hobby?
Really interesting setlist guys. Obviously it will be much shorter on saturday, but I thought they had retired Deadbolt? Will keep some people I know happy to know they are still playing it, whether they do ay Wembley or not
Ouch! That smarts!

RE: Film Soundtrack Donation
Dear Thrice,
We are long time fans of you guys and have grown with you since “Illusion of Safety”. RescueTheGirl is made up of young people working to help transform cultures of slavery into communities of restoration and freedom. Did you know that last year slavery became the number one illegal syndicate in the world – surpassing drugs and weapons?
We are editing our film right now and had the crazy audacity to actually invite you to donate a song for the soundtrack. As artists ourselves who are interested in using our gifts to make a difference, we would love to feature you guys on the film soundtrack. We are using teh creative arts to help rescue girls from the horrors of modern slavery. I think you guys are independent still, correct? So you might be actually able to donate a song?
Either way, we love you guys! Keep bein’ who you be!

Thank you so much for such a fantastic show, you guys are all truly amazing. Always so refreshing and rewarding to listen and watch you play with such passion.
Thoughts out to Teppei and family & all the best for the rest of the tour.
Hahah, that snake’s bested me a fair few times too…
Thanks for a great show; I work at the venue and it’s not often I get to do lights for bands I’ve actually heard of, nevermind admire, so thanks!

Hat’s off to Nate, did an awesome job.
Damn Ed. You might wanna consider giving Muay Thai a try if the whole being an amazing musician thing doesn’t pan out. A shin that can break a couch? Deadly in the ring.
This setlist was awesome! I was kinda hoping for you guys to play Firebreather but nonetheless it was an epic night!
