Although you’ve probably read it elsewhere already (because the “series of tubes” called “The Interwebs” disseminates information faster than you can cram it into your skull), we’d like to take this opportunity to announce that we’re incredibly excited to be hitting the road this Spring with Manchester Orchestra and O’Brother. We met Andy and Chris from M.O. a few years ago at a show in Atlanta and got along great with them, and since then we’ve been keeping in touch/crossing paths with them occasionally. We connect with these guys on many levels and couldn’t be happier to share the stage with them.
I first heard O’Brother when my drum tech, Jon, played me their Death Of Day EP on the bus a few tours ago. I was hooked instantly, and that EP ended up being one of my favorite pieces of music that I heard last year. Since then, they’ve been a constant on my playlist, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them play every night for a few weeks.
Dates for the tour are here. If your city isn’t listed, we’re sorry. We (as in Thrice, not this particular tour) will be doing a headline tour this summer and will see you then.
In other news, this week, we just finished recording and mixing a cover for a release that I am not at liberty to talk about quite yet. Soon. We’ve also been rehearsing for a show we’re playing at Arizona State University tomorrow night. It’s a quickie. We’re gonna be in and out of town, even though part of me wishes I could hang out in Tempe and lurk around Angels Spring Training for a few days.
And finally, we’re tumbling (?) tumblring (?) blogging (?) or something. In an effort to keep the posts and news you see here strictly Thrice-related, we’ve set up Tumblr pages for each of us so that we can ramble and post pictures and video about whatever we feel like in our very own personal space. That way, the content you get here is band-related, and not me blabbering about the Lakers, Angels, or how some guy mowing the field at the Houston Astros practice facility is named Dick Raasch; Teppei posting a picture of a pair of boots or some lumberjack with a hatchet; or Ed posting educational videos about lights, and anything and everything Mark Hollis; or what Dustin will blog about, eventually.
Those tumblr pages are here:
Riley: trawlingthegrey.tumblr.com
Teppei: newgrass.tumblr.com
Dustin: dustinkensrue.tumblr.com
Bookmark them if you’d like, or access them via the convenient TUMBLR drop-down menu above.
And that’s it for now. More good news later. In the meantime. Get tumbly and twittery.
Hope you’re all well.
-Riley

well, whatever – it shouldn’t be an issue since the video is free to download. apologies if it is a problem & feel free to take this down.

Rivers you da man!!! Thx a million.
Riley,
It’ll be a regular trifecta tour, can’t wait!
I am super excited about the tour with Manchester and O’Brother. They’re our hometown heroes here in Atlanta. We love them too.
Also, thanks for posting the “When will soon be now” clip. It made my morning. I hope the rest of the UK tour is going well. Give a big Hello to GlassJaw for me!
the rest of the uk tour? ^^
it lasted a WHOLE week and ended in january
what happened to the reno show at the Knitting factory????
where all the single ladies at
@Benji
Lol. idk why but both the sayings “where da white women at?” and “all the single ladies” came into my head.
haha either way
Benji, that’s at least the second time you’ve reminded someone of that Beyoncé song. Quit it.
I’d like to think I’m the biggest thrice fan, or tied for the biggest thrice fan, without being dangerous and getting all love knife on them. Like “Oh I love you so much. Let me show you with this knife.” I know there are bigger “fans” out there. Like the type of people that take things way too far and make Thrice their entire purpose for living. Fortunately I have a big kid job and a fiance and thus am forced to stay on the sane side of my fandom.
we all are “biggest thrice fan”!!!
how do you measure fandom?
i know every single thrice song on the drums, dustin in a huge inspiration to me regarding lyrics-writing, i have a thrice-inspired tattoo…. and i’ve never seen them live. Sucks to live in france. (BUT i have seen the live @ HOB like 30 times, no kidding!)
So yes, we’re all fans.
and we’re all beggars
All the best to all of you!
Kev
So excited for the two Atlanta shows, Three amazing bands. Me and my brother were talking about how cool it would be if Manchester, O’brother, Rova Zettla, and thrice all played together. I heard my brother start screaming my name and yelling the amazing news. at least we got three out of four.
@ Like Linus: My bad! I guess I got my info wrong.
Congrats guys on the award tonight.
@craig
what award?
never mind that last one.
OMG you guys congrats!!!!!!!!
i have thought about one thing lately, Slipknot call their fans “maggots”, but… are thrice fans called beggars? yeah, its silly
Were called Thrice fans linus… dont be gay bro
We guys deserved that damn award more than any other band! Congrats! Keep making those amazing albums.
Great news on the awards, guys. Congratulations!
Congrats. Thanks to you guys winning the award, that was rightfully yours, the pissing contest of fandom has ended!
My dad loves thrice because they played post-rock music back in the later 90’s.
signing off,

I have been lurking and reading the posts avidly so just wanted to express my thanks for providing me with some very good reading material. I look forward to more, and taking a more active part in the discussions here.
