Does anyone who went to the Vegas show have a setlist they can post here or on Setlist.fm please? I considered flying out there for a weekend of mayhem and Thrice but eventually decided against it, and now I want to know exactly what I missed so that it doesnt happen again.
I wasn’t at the Vegas show, but given the info from ty upthread, YouTube videos from the show, the 10 songs they played every show this tour, and the fact that the setlists were almost identical for the previous seven shows, I’m pretty sure the setlist was (may not be in order; unconfirmed songs marked):
All The World Is Mad
The Weight
The Artist In The Ambulance
Of Dust And Nations
The Earth Will Shake
Firebreather
The Messenger (?)
A Song For Milly Michaelson (?)
Circles
Doublespeak
Blood Clots And Black Holes (?)
Silhouette
Red Sky
In Exile
Image Of The Invisible
To Awake And Avenge The Dead
Helter Skelter
Beggars
Can anyone who went confirm? We’ll have compiled every setlist from the tour on setlist.fm with the Vegas one!
laptop crashed last week… just got it back and as im putting all my cd’s back onto itunes… i cant help but all in love with Earth all over again. I think everysinge song on that CD is an A+
I wonder why they ended up cutting two of the best songs from that set list (Stand and Feel Your Worth, and Child of Dust) towards the end.
Were people not responding to them (if so, who cares?)?
@mattysesh no kidding about them selling for a ridiculous amount. I bought al mine for under $20 and now they go for 5 times that sometimes. The only vinyl i am missing is IOS and the all that’s left 7 inch. I have IOS everywhere for cheap but I am holding out for the version in yellow which here are only 500 of. It will probably be a while before I find one. Anyone have one they are willing part with?
The early setlists were a lot more varied; it’s a little disappointing that they played pretty much the same setlist for the last quarter of the tour. I’m glad I saw them in Seattle; we got some nice rares (Atlantic, Daedalus, Abolition of Man, Child of Dust). Just kicking myself that I didn’t drive down further to see them in Portland too … then I would’ve seen nearly all my personal favorites on this tour (Burn the Fleet, Awake and Avenge, For Miles, Lost Continent)!
Here’s hoping for those Canadian tour dates later this year that were rumored…
Vince I definately wouldnt complain either, but we both know they’ll never put out the same album twice. I can’t wait to hear how Thrice’s constant evolution and potentially their old “heavy” and “mathy” influences will mesh into something totally sick.
However I do think it’s about time for an album named “The Beggars Index For The Illusion Of Vheissu In The Ambulance”……(Greatest Hits).
I would like to see some more Shredder stuff incorporated into the darker heavier stuff from Vheissu… Doesnt make sense at all right now, but i guarantee thrice can pull it off. “Begging for an Identity in the ambulance with illusions of Alchemy with a slight case of Vheissu”
I think it´s time for them to do the Selftitled Thrice record as the next one. They have done many records and their sound have evolved and matured into their own unique style and sound, now it´s the perfect moment for them to do the album which is 100% thrice, they have reached the point where they have found themselves and could take all the good parts of thrice and throw them in the same frame.
just imagine if Beggars/Alchemy index had a baby with Vheissu.
Crusching mathy post-metal heavyness merged with the the sleepy, soft and beatuiful post-rock´ish melodies with a touch of bluesy and groovy elements.
Seriously guys?
Don’t “rework” anything (greg)
“same lyrics..same general riffs” (that is the folly of modern music that Thrice has NOT fallen into)
I know its cool to speculate on what their next album will be like, but as Thrice has shown over the past 11 years, the only thing we know about the next one for sure is that it won’t be anything like anything they have put out previously. They are way to creative and talented to have to rework a past album.
@mattysesh: Nothing solid, but one of the moderators at The Lost Continent spoke with Ed after the Houston show and he said they may be doing some shows in Canada later this year. I hope it’s true … they missed Vancouver (and Victoria) the last tour!
i say fuck it…. i wouldnt mind if they did a ten disc set all freakin remakes, jam sessions, just them talking, random tidbits and calling whatever the hell they want it…. i’d buy it
what does a selftitled album have to do less creativity? just cuz the name? everybody know that dustin could come up with amazing lyrics and titles. A album dont need to have a name sometimes, that leaves a lot creativity to the listener. just look at the beatles untitled album, it dont have a name but everybody knows it as the white album. I think its takes a lot to do a album that collects the pure soul of the band, from all aspects. but thats just my thoughts.never mind.
i know the next album will be sick, thrice is the only band i know who doesnt get shitier with every album. Thrice´s albums just get better every time.
still not a big fan of self titled albums…. Even the white album or Metallica’s the black album. Metallica by Metallica just isnt the same as Master of puppets by metallica or And justice for all by Metallica. Not saying it wouldnt be any less great, but i just like the creativity of the album names that go with the tracks
Thats awesome! I hope they do too. They missed Winnipeg this tour and I coudlnt make it to Saskatoon or Minneapolis cause they were during the week and I work 9-5, so the 8 hour drives wern’t possible. I Ended up driving 14 hours to Chicago on the Saturday…totally worth it. But it would still be nice for a home show.
greg
If what you meant was actually just remake the same exact songs and label them the same and everything then sure, whatever floats your boat. I love all of the changes to songs they make (Milly & Cold cash being my favs)
When you said make the same album I thought you meant make a new album with the same style of music, lyrics, etc. That is the way it read.
But I’m 99.9% sure they would never ever do that, seems like a waste of effort they could put into writing a new record
@LikeLinus
A self titled album sounds cool, but I’m a bit iffy about that. The sound you explained does sound awesome though.
Either way, the new albums gonna be amazing.
i know he was joking but i did vinces idea of them all doing animal sounds. Maybe a four disc set kinda like alchemy… You know each cd a different continent of animals… put that with some kinda elephant t shirt and i’d pre order in a heart beat
benji – if Thrice put out an 8 disc behemoth collection of the sounds of their humming fridges at different times of the day you would pre-order it
I like the idea of a self titled album, for all the reasons put above. I think they’re “there” now, They put out an album with just Thrice on the box, and basedon the colour/artwork/theme, us lot would soon give it it’s name (e.g. the white album/black album etc.) so it wouldn’t be untitled ongoing.
I love all kind of songs thrice puts out there put it would be cool if they did some longer songs, Cult Of Luna reminds me of a heavier thrice, and some of their songs are over 10 minutes long. In that time you can put in a lot of cool stuffs and let the song evolve into a monster without any stress.
could be pretty epic to have between some more mellower songs.
i wonder if they are going to come up with a theme do some more concept albums/ep? I read that the Dear Hunter is going to do some Colour ep´s. like the elements but with colours instead, and a lot of them to!
Alchemy Index is the best i ever have heard in my whole life, i wonder if they´ll ever will be able to beat it
I would really love for Riley to totally make a post-metal song, a longer Night diving. I know he loves Isis so it would be cool to make a tribute to them since they’ve broken up.
And yeah kinda like you say Linus, since Cult of luna also are a post-metal band.
Can you please write a song about Jews for Jesus, maybe you can call it Controversy or maybe Not Ashamed, use some good CS Lewis references and underlining theological themes maybe something that speaks about replacement theology. That would be rad and I will come to your shows way more. Me and Jake Schafer will make you a music video.
Let me know if you need any help with WordPress. I build sites with it for a living and it’s the least I can do, considering you’ve provided me with inspiring music for the majority of my life.
i only have one vinyl… that one that came with the Vheissu Preorder… you know the lil white one… never too big on vinyls
Can´t wait to see you guys in europe!!!=)

Didn’t go but I know they had been switchin up Red Sky and Come All You Weary

@NK
Totally agree. In Montreal they substituted Stand with For Miles.
Dont get me wrong, I love For Miles but I`ve heard it live pretty often. Stand and Feel Your Worth would have been epic.
The early setlists were a lot more varied; it’s a little disappointing that they played pretty much the same setlist for the last quarter of the tour. anyone intrigued by dustin’s recent interview where he mentioned leaning toward going back to mathier/heavier stuff for the next album?
@adam?
what interview is this? I am very intrigued
@steven toy
rumoured canadian dates? where did this come from?
@ Mattysesh
mfmagazine on Youtube. It’s actually a pretty good interview.
the link’s near the end of thrice’s wikipedia entry.
All I’m saying is if they released Vheissu #2, I wouldn’t have any complaints.
Vince I definately wouldnt complain either, but we both know they’ll never put out the same album twice. I can’t wait to hear how Thrice’s constant evolution and potentially their old “heavy” and “mathy” influences will mesh into something totally sick.

Linus… i totally agree with the musical aspect. Totally disagree with the self titled album
rework illusion of safety.
make it more mellow/change the tones.
same lyrics..same general riffs…just more to the style of modern thrice.
that would make my day.
Seriously guys?
Don’t “rework” anything (greg)

Actually I do think a self-titled of something should be in the works, whether its DVD/CD or an album.
What does a self-titled album say about the band?
I believe they’re too creative to settle on a self-titled album.
@mattysesh: Nothing solid, but one of the moderators at The Lost Continent spoke with Ed after the Houston show and he said they may be doing some shows in Canada later this year. I hope it’s true … they missed Vancouver (and Victoria) the last tour!
i still stand by my comment. thank you.
@chase…
you dont dig on the revised version of deadbolt…milly michealson…so strange..???
theyve been “redone” so to speak
those “revisions” for the IOS album…..epic.
i say fuck it…. i wouldnt mind if they did a ten disc set all freakin remakes, jam sessions, just them talking, random tidbits and calling whatever the hell they want it…. i’d buy it

YES!!!!!!!!! idk about a self titled album but I’m down.
I would dig a b-side collektion for cristmas=)
essentially they could all get together and make animal noises and package it with a T-shirt and I’d buy it on CD, iTunes, and vinyl.
I finally saw the “I disagree – thrice” shirt that Riley was wearing, can anyone enlighten me on the reason or background of it?
@Steven Toy
Thats awesome! I hope they do too. I’m not going to be very genuine:
Jealous.

a rare Teppei interview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfN5Qggex7k
by “rare” i mean, teppei doesnt do a lot of solo interviews, not “rare” as in sometime in 02 that nobody has seen before.
Dustin just posted this on their twitter
“K. Finally saw Inception. Nolans is a genius. Also, finally bought a “The National” record. High Violet. So good. Writing new tunes now. DK”
New tunes eh??

That’s really upsetting. The Dig really enticed me for an opening band and I hope they find some of this stuff. I don’t know why people do this.
