The Dig’s gear stolen in Chicago

July 28th, 2010

The tour ended with all of us super bummed to leave such amazing friends. It was an awesome time touring with such great musicians and people. We were all ready to head home but, sad to leave our new homies.

On an even sadder note, The Dig just had some of their gear stolen out of their van in Chicago… Irreplaceable instruments, in that they carry a sentimental value as well as the fact that no instrument will sound or feel the same, particularly vintage instruments. It makes me sick to my stomach.

You can help though… Go to:   http://bit.ly/9fkZW1

Search Craigslist Chicago… eBay… whatever. It’s not uncommon that these people are caught. (I know of a craigslist selling bike thief that was caught by the bikes owner)

Thank you so much for coming out to the shows! It was an amazing time… We’re on our way to Europe in a few weeks :D

For anyone who is interested: I did an interview with Dustin on writing when they made their stop in Chicago. If you want to read the unabridged version (along with Dustin’s take on the Lost finale) you can find it on my website.

  8. Chase says:

  9. Luke says:

That’s not right I hope they get some of they’re gear back. Anyway I can’t wait until you guys come back to Austin again because the last show y’all played was an amazing time. You couldn’t have said it any better.

    @ Patrick

I thought Dustin did the artwork as well but then I found most of the drawings in some sort of Wicca handbook in a bookstore. I checked the AI liner notes again, and it said Dustin did the art design. But I’m sure he’s talented in visual arts as well.

I can’t work out what the B is for..

  17. Mike says:

    @ Braunson & JM.
I had Russian Circles tickets, but they didn’t make the show, since their bus or truck or whatever…along with all of their equipment…got demolished a couple days before. Bummer.

  18. Michael says:

    Or Best Offer.

  19. WelshMatt says:

Haven’t checked in for a while – has there been any mention of when they’re planning to enter the studio?

The prospect of a more mathy record has got me all kinds of crazy excited.

  20. Chase says:

    From Chris’ Interview w/ DK

Any word on new solo release in the near future?

I don’t know. I’m working on a project now that’s not going to be the next Dustin Kensrue solo record, but something else. I’ll be announcing that fairly soon.

Any idea when we’re going to start hearing about you guys working on a new album?

Going to Europe after this tour, but I’m definitely starting to get in the thought process for writing. Soon.

    Good interview btw

  21. samuel nieto says:

    Hey to whoever reads this,
does anyone know the name of the Kevin Devine song that Teppei played keys for on their tour together?
I went to the San Diego show, which was amazing, but it was the last song from Kevin’s setlist.
and it was a pretty damn good song.

by the way, thanks for playing good shows :)

  22. Michael says:

Michael V., what is your e-mail? I’ll get those bonus tracks to you.

  23. Vince says:

    @Samuel,

    Brother’s Blood, probably?

  24. Braunson says:

@ Mike, Dude my apologies for your loss, standing in front of Brian Cook during the entire set before Boris made me think of when I stood in front of Eddie in Montreal on June 16th and reminded how much I love both of their bass playing/ tones. Both amazing musicians and I don’t even play bass lol just gotta respect when you feel your heart skip a beat cause a bass frequency coupled with a kick or floor tom just hits your chest in such a way as to give you the biggest smile of your day.

  25. LikeLinus says:

I wonder what the secret project by dustin is about?
If it´s not a solo record, is it another side project? Or maybe a soundtrack to a movie? Like when eddie vedder did the ost to into the wild. that would be awesome!

  26. WelshMatt says:

    @ Chase
    Thanks man. Sounds promising

  27. adam? says:

maybe dustin is opening a dairy queen?

  28. Thanks you for this wonderful post. Looking for more.

  29. colin says:

maybe dustin might have something to do with bad books? i mean the guys did tour with manchester orch then kevin. maybe he wound up writing a few songs with them.

  30. Vince says:

Maybe Dustin is writing his own TV show and acting in it and writing music for it and it’ll be called the Dustin Kensrue Show OR This Is How You Do It (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na).

I’m not saying I’m putting my chips down on that.

I’m saying I’m putting my chips down on that and I really hope it happens.

  31. benji's "the forum monitor" says:

I think the dudes should start their own cheese company. You know and have all the cheeses for sale when they tour. Good source of extra income

  32. Kyle says:

    And calcium ^^
Russian Circles, Thrice annnnnd Cold War Kids!!!!
DOOOOO ITTT!!! Thrice is the perfect balance between the two :p

  33. jm says:

    Kyle…

my man, that would be the perfect tour!

  34. Dogman says:
